My studies and experiences to date have enabled me to reflect on a variety of issues and situations to depict what really
persuades and influences my personal philosophy. Relating theory to practice I have learnt to reflect on the different scenarios which confront me as I learn how diverse different educational settings can be. I value the opportunities I have had to spend quality time in different educational settings, enabling myself to observe from different perspectives and see first hand what works, and what doesn't. This is the beginning of the construction of my own pedagogical practice as I reflect on my own experiences, and pre-exiting philosophies to depict and compile what I believe will best adapt and meet the needs of the children today.
A child centred approach is mandatory, as every aspect of our work is developed for the purpose of better catering for the children of today, and what we can do to provide our children with a positive and supportive start to to life. To cater for these children it is important to know the influences that are shaping their interests and ways of living and being. It is important to acknowledge the rapid advancement of new technologies which have become everyday items in a number of children's environments, and also enable efficient ways of documenting and planning.. The technologies that are influencing children are constantly evolving, and as educators we need to adapt to these new technologies and continue our own learning to better understand the children in our care. This way their interests and needs can be relevantly met. Known as digital natives, it is mandatory that we, as educators make conscious efforts to continue learning and increase our knowledge so that we can best cater for and understand the needs of the children trusted in our hands.
Providing children with opportunities to explore a vast variety of activities and learning experiences is essential on a day to day basis to keep minds stimulated and interests high. It is essential that we plan holistically to help children develop different ways of thinking and doing, and to promote the well-being of their growth and development, fine and gross motor skills.
Having a passion for Art, and already completing a Diploma in Visual Arts, I see and enjoy the important role in which the arts plays in the early development and growth of a child's education, offering imaginative, collaborative and sensory experiences with endless opportunities.
During my practicums I have enjoyed incorporating my musical and artistic knowledge to implement fun and varied experiences for the children.
play based pedagogy
flexible, malleable approaches to experiences so that they can mold around the shown interests of the children.
Today there is a large emphasis on understanding the entirety of the individual child to best cater for their needs through exploring holistic approaches that include and acknowledge the wider community and the diverse ways of living and being, beliefs , traditions and cultures that all play a part in understanding ones identity

This relates to Bronfenbrenners ecological theory, acknowledging all outer community and social influences.
The implementation of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), I believe, is a positive shift forward alongside the Australian National Quality framework, increasing overall standards on a national scale. I have been privileged to undertake my course at a time when learning about the new framework is of high importance as I see first hand the changes taking place within centres to adapt to the new curriculum.
